In the world of Freemasonry today, we are met with unique challenges that were not a part of the culture of the fraternity in decades past. Educational research and general information about us can be located with merely a click of a mouse. Though convenient in some ways, the information put out is not always a proper portrayal of our beloved Craft.
Know matter what aspect of Freemasonry you discuss, whether it be Blue Lodge or the other braches of the Craft, one thing is always common place…..MEMBERSHIP.
How do we gather more members? How do we keep the members we have? These questions seem plague the fraternity in its war of numbers. For example, we must take in more members than we lose to either death or suspension due to non-payment. In trying to face this challenge head on, we have often surrendered to the concepts of “one-day classes” or in some cases, electronic viewing of lectures to allow one to advance.
The bottom line is this brethren, Freemasonry is going through a renaissance. We are able to convey the message of the Craft in more ways than mouth to ear. The worry need not be on recruitment or retention, but rather development. Through proper mentoring and education of one new to the Craft, you are aiding in his reformation and allowing him to perfect that ashlar inside his Temple. [read more]
